DEVILS TAKE 3 OF 4 IN OPENING WEEKEND
The 2014 Lower Columbia College baseball team opened the season by taking three of four games at Story Field.
The season opened with a 9-8, 10 inning loss to Clark on Saturday March 1st. LCC bounced back in the nightcap to beat the Penguins 8-2.
Sunday the Devils swept two from the Concordia JV's, 13-2 and 10-3.
In the opener against Clark, Red Devil starter
Trevor Lane was dominatiing, striking out 10 Clark batters in just 3 2/3 innings of work. Up 6-1, the bullpen struggled allowing six runs in the final three innings.
Justin Jacobs and
Conner Switzer had three hits each.
In the second game against Clark, Lane had four hits and two RBI.
Dakota Clevidence hit a homer.
Tanner Olson gave up two runs in four innings of work and
Jacob Cogar went five solid scoreless innings allowing just one hit.
The Devils had plenty of offense on Sunday against Concordia. In game one,
Makaio Mobbs hit a big triple and finished the game with two hits and three RBI's.
Mason Dunning had three hits and two RBI.
Hunter Wells pitched four scoreless innings and
Gabe Ihrig got the victory.
In the weekend finale,
Ethan Kalin went five solid innings allowing just two hits. The Devils played long ball with homers by Clevidence,
Tanner Marty and Switzer. Lane had two hits and three RBI's.
The Devils host Lane in a four game series Friday and Saturday March 7th and 8th. First pitch Friday is 4 pm and the double header Saturday starts at 12 pm. The pitching rotation has Lane and Olson as the starters Friday with Kalin and Wells getting the nods on Saturday.
