DEVILS DOUBLE DOWN CARDS IN SLUGFEST

Devils sophomore Cooper Mickelson had a big day, going 8 for 10 in the Red Devils sweep of Skagit Valley on Saturday March 15th.

The Devils rallied with five runs in the 8th inning to win game one 15-13, then plated three in the 8th to take game two 7-6.

The Devils and Cards combined for 33 hits in the first game. Justin Jacobs went 4 for 5 with 5 RBI. His three run homer in the first got the LCC offense started. Mickelson was 5 for 6 with 2 RBI. Trevor Lane went 4 for 6 with 3 RBI and 4 runs scored. Yasuke Akitoshi led Skagit Valley with three hits and four RBI, including a three run HR.

Trevor Lane started and gave up nine runs, four earned, 3 2/3 innings. Seth Pedersen was a key for LCC, pitching five innings of relief to get the win.

Game two also had plenty of offensive moments. LCC's Peter Lecce and Mason Dunning hit homers, Dunning's a moster blast to right center field. Mickelson added three more basehits. Chris Rogers and Lane had two hits each.

Akistoshi hit his second homer of the day in the second game to lead Skagit.

Jacob Cogar got the win in relief, going 2 1/3 innings of one-hit ball. Devils starter Tanner Olson went 6 2/3 giving up five hits and six runs, five earned.

With the sweep, the Devils go to 9-2 on the season. They will host the Linfield JV's at 12 pm on Sunday March 16th.
