Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Devils Take the Defending Champs to OT

It was a hot start in the season opener, but the LCC women's basketball team lost a tough road game at Columbia Basin Saturday November 22nd.

LCC raced to an early 17-point lead over the defending NWAC champs, but the Hawks cut into the lead and the Devils were up just seven at the break.  CBC then took charge in the second half, got it into OT and beat the Devils 102-97.

The Devils were ahead 21-4 in a sizzling start.  In the end, 24 turnovers and 31 fouls allowed the Hawks back into the game.

Sierra Richards had a monster game in the season opener, scoring 28 points with 14 rebounds.  Kaylea Knox hit 6 of 13 three-pointers and tallied 22 points.  Donniesha Webber had a big second half and finished with 12 points and seven boards.  Peyton Barker and Amanda Britt scored nine each.

The Devils outrebounded CBC 59-50 and there were plenty of other positives to get out of the tough OT loss.

LCC will host Portland December 3rd in the home opener. The game at the Mark Morris Gym will tip off at 6 pm.
