DEVILS EARN THREE WINS AT WALLA WALLA

The LCC volleyball team tasted victory for the first time, then added two more wins to go 3-3 at the Walla Walla Crossover tournament Friday and Saturday September 20 and 21.

The Devils opened the tournament by dropping a 25-14, 25-21 match to South power Mt. Hood. Bellevue then defeated the Devils 25-19, 25-17. Friday night the Devil came up with first victory, beating Columbia Basin 25-15, 25-23.

Saturday, Shoreline and LCC battled to a deciding 5th set, with the Dolphins taking the victory. The scores were 20-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-20, 15-10.

In the consolation bracket, the Devils came up with two huge wins. LCC beat Umpqua 25-21, 23-25, 25-11, 25-15. With the consolation trophy up for grabs, LCC outlasted CBC five intense sets, rallying from down 0-2 to get it done. The Hawks won the first two sets 25-21 and 25-19. The Devils battled back to win the next two 28-26 and 25-17. The deciding set went into extra points with LCC taking the decider 19-17.

Sophomore setter Jessica Fischer and sophomore middle blocker Mckenna Hoyt were both named to the all-tournament team.

The Devils hope to ride the momentum when they open West Region play Wednesday night September 25th at 7 pm. It will also be the first home match of the season after playing all the pre-league matches on the road. The Devils take on Green River at the Mark Morris High School Gymnasium.
