Farrington was the head baseball coach at Lower Columbia between 1984-1994.  His Red Devils won NWAC championships in 1984, 1990 and 1992 and they were runners-up twice.
 
Coach Farrington was the NWAC Coach of the Year three times and won the Diamond National Coach of the Year in 1992. Steve also won five region titles and was named region coach of the year six times.
 
Following his great success at LCC Farrington was named the head coach at Washington State University, taking over from the legendary Chuck “Bobo” Brayton.  He was the Pac-10 North Coach of the Year while at WSU where he spent six years as the Cougar head coach. Steve also went on to become the head coach at Columbia Basin College in Pasco.
 
While at Lower Columbia, Farrington had a record of 280-149-2.  He was also a very popular P.E. instructor and was voted the LCC Faculty Member of the Year in 1993.
 
Farrington led the project to construct the center field Batting Barn and also was the first coach to install an artificial turf infield at Story Field.
 
Coach Farrington was inducted into the NWAC Hall of Fame in 2000.
 
Steve was honored at Lower Columbia during a ceremony in the fall of 2005 where his name was also placed at Story Field.
