A graduate of Ingraham High School in Seattle, Waite was a two-sport standout at LCC, earning letters in basketball and baseball.
As a freshman, Waite averaged 7.6 points and 5.2 rebounds for the Red Devils who finished second in the WSCC Men’s Basketball Championships. He averaged 15.6 points per game as a sophomore, and helped LCC to a third-place finish at the WSCC Championships.
Waite was a smooth fielding first baseman who hit .267 as a freshman with the WSCC Champion baseball team, and hit .316 with 17 RBIs as a sophomore while helping LCC to a third-place finish in the championships.
Waite transferred to Gonzaga University, where he played with LCC Hall of Famer and Longview native Rick Sweet.
After graduation, Waite worked as a Boeing engineer, a college administrator at Western Washington University, served as an international engineer consultant/trainer, and as a middle school teacher. He retired from the workforce in 2016.
