Sheldon Andrews - 1979 & 1980 LCC Baseball

The Rainier Oregon graduate had a stellar career pitching for the LCC baseball team.  He earned three victories in the 1979 NWAACC Baseball championship tournament.  His sophomore season he had an earned run average of
2.39 and was an all-NWAACC all-star.

Andrews had the kind of arm talent that brought professional scouts to LCC games.  He was drafted by four teams including the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets, Pittsburgh again, and finally the New York Yankees in 1980.

Andrews spent three seasons in the minor leagues with an 18-12 record and a fine 3.17 ERA with 195 strikeouts before injury ended his promising career.

Andrews went on to a long high school coaching career and has mentored many local players.
