Mike Anderson - 1964 & 1965 LCC Track & Field
Anderson was a record setting miler during his two seasons at Lower Columbia College. The R.A. Long product stayed in his hometown to begin his college career and he became the long distance man-to-beat in the State
Community College ranks. Anderson showed talent and endurance in his first season at LCC. He won the mile and the two-mile in single meets several times.
During his sophomore year, Anderson set the LCC record in the 880 and the mile. He also broke the WSJCAA mile record, despite taking second in the final to Highline's Jim Prout. One of his great achievements in his sophomore
season was winning the 880, mile and two-mile in a single meet.
While at LCC, Anderson formed a track club that drew many of the top long distance runners in the area. Anderson went on to run at the University of Idaho.
